While General Motors has been talking publicly about its Ultium platform and how it’ll proliferate across the lineup, the company has been making non-Ultium Bolts and selling a bunch of them. However, that time is officially coming to an end.
GM CEO Mary Barra confirmed on an investor call today that the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV will cease production at the end of the year. General Motors also sent out an email to current Bolt owners telling them the news and letting them know they’ll still be able to get service for their vehicles.
Barra also, in a letter to investors, described this year as a “breakout year for GM EVs and the Ultium Platform.”
While we didn’t expect the vehicle to last forever, the Chevy Bolt is a truly affordable electric vehicle in a time of record high average transaction prices and high interest rates. Barra mentions in her letter that the Bolt just had another record quarter of deliveries.
