Ford Pro is providing DHL with over 2,000 E-Transit vans

Your next delivery from DHL may come in an all-electric delivery van. Ford Pro is set to provide Deutsche Post DHL Group with over 2,000 electric vans by the end of 2023, as DHL aims to have 60% of its pickup and delivery fleet of vehicles to be electric by 2030. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate electrification of vans all around the world. The agreement also includes a full suite of solutions provided by Ford Pro, including access to connected E-Telematics software and charging solutions.

The move will also help Ford achieve its goal of zero emissions for all vehicle sales and carbon neutrality across its European footprint of facilities, logistics, and suppliers by 2035. The automaker is aiming to reach carbon neutrality globally no later than 2050. Ford has already delivered the first E-Transits as part of the agreement, joining DHL’s electric fleet that is used for last mile deliveries worldwide. The majority of the ordered E-Transits will be panel vans designed for handling express shipments in the Americas and Europe. But DHL has also purchased Ford Pro Special Vehicles with a customized box for inner city distribution in Germany.

The two companies plan to collaborate in exploring the co-development of future products, along with new digital and charging solutions. Ford Pro will also provide early access to innovative ideas to DHL, along with access to test vehicles and monitoring services.

EV Pulse recently tested the range of the Ford E-Transit at maximum payload and you can read more about the results here.

“Ford Pro and Deutsche Post DHL Group share the vision of greater sustainability and a commitment to electrified solutions, and this agreement is a major step towards millions of deliveries being completed by electrified vehicles around the world. E-Transit is the top-selling commercial EV in North America and since June is also the best-seller in its segment in Europe, meaning the all-electric 2-tonne van is already making big strides to support this ambition,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe.
