2021 Volkswagen ID.4 performance metrics tested

Recently, we had a chance to spend a day in the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover. It’s not the brand’s first fully electric vehicle in the United States, but it is the first attempt at a 50 state, mass adopted product.

Our test unit was a rear-wheel drive 1st Edition product. That means it makes 201 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. It weighs over 4,200 pounds. So, don’t expect this to be a sports car.

For more information on how we conduct our performance testing, you can read about it here. This also explains where we do and don’t calculate rollout.
