Mercedes-Benz unveils first electric wagon in CLA lineup

Mercedes-Benz will launch the all-new CLA Shooting Brake with EQ Technology in Europe in March 2026, marking its first fully electric wagon model. The Shooting Brake shares its front design and 110-inch wheelbase with the CLA Saloon up to the B-pillar, and features a low shark-nose profile, an illuminated front panel with 142 chrome-look LED stars, and optional MULTIBEAM LED headlights. A one-piece panoramic glass roof stretches from windshield to tailgate, and can switch from transparent to opaque in under 20 milliseconds. At night, 158 embedded LED “stars” in the roof create an ambient starry-sky effect.

Cargo capacity ranges from 16.1 to 45.6 cubic feet in the rear trunk, plus a 3.6 cubic-foot illuminated frunk under the hood. Standard roof rails support up to 165 lbs, and a braked towing capacity of 3,968 lbs allows for trailers carrying jet skis or motorcycles. A 40:20:40 split-fold rear seat, EASY-PACK electric tailgate, and available hands-free Keyless-Go access enhance versatility.

Two battery-electric variants will be offered: the CLA 250+ Shooting Brake with 200 kW of power, a generous WLTP range of up to 473 miles, and a zero-to-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds; and the CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake with 260 kW, a 454-mile range, and a 5.0-second sprint. Both use an 85 kWh battery, an 800-volt architecture, and up to 320 kW DC charging that adds 193 miles of range in ten minutes.

The interior features a floating two-level center console, ARTICO upholstery, and the optional MBUX Superscreen with real-time graphics powered by the Unity Game Engine. The fourth-generation MBUX Virtual Assistant—integrated via MB.OS and the Intelligent Cloud—supports over-the-air updates and personalized voice interactions. Standard equipment includes LED High Performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, THERMATIC climate control, and MB.CHARGE Public access to global charging networks.
