Polestar has unveiled a new collection of vehicles named the Arctic Circle, which builds upon the unique design of the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle first introduced in 2022. This new series includes the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, completing a range of rally-inspired cars that reflect the performance characteristics of the Swedish brand. These vehicles are scheduled to be showcased at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, on February 1, 2025.
The Arctic Circle collection is designed to illustrate Polestar’s performance DNA, which is rooted in motorsport and characterized by Scandinavian design principles. The development of these vehicles takes place under challenging conditions in the Arctic Circle of Sweden. Michael Lohscheller, the CEO of Polestar, noted that the event would highlight the capabilities of Polestar vehicles in icy conditions, emphasizing their connection to car culture and performance.
Joakim Rydholm, Head of Driving Dynamics at Polestar, has been instrumental in integrating the brand’s performance characteristics into the entire lineup. With extensive experience in motorsport, Rydholm has played a significant role in applying rally-inspired elements to these new models. He remarked on the unique challenges and enjoyment of adapting the successful formula of the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle to the new SUV models.
The Arctic Circle vehicles are built at Polestar’s research and development facilities in Sweden. Key features include a raised ride height, custom adjustable dampers, specialized studded tires, and wheels designed for rally performance. Additional accessories, such as skis, roof racks, and recovery equipment, are also available, showcasing various partnerships that Polestar has established. Overall, the Arctic Circle collection represents a significant addition to Polestar’s offerings, emphasizing performance and design in extreme conditions.
