Stellantis taps Antonio Filosa as new CEO

Stellantis has named Antonio Filosa as its new chief executive officer, following a unanimous vote by the board after an extensive search led by Executive Chairman John Elkann. To ensure a smooth transition, Filosa will assume full CEO powers on June 23, with an extraordinary shareholder meeting set in the coming days to formally elect him to the board.

Filosa brings more than 25 years of automotive experience to the role. He previously served as chief operating officer for South America, where he propelled Fiat to market leadership and grew Peugeot, Citroën, Ram and Jeep into regional frontrunners. His leadership helped launch one of South America’s largest automotive hubs in Pernambuco, Brazil, and established Jeep as the brand’s top market outside the US. Promoted last December to chief operating officer for the Americas, Filosa has since streamlined US operations by cutting excess dealer inventory, reorganizing leadership, rolling out new products and powertrains, and deepening engagement with dealers, unions and suppliers.

“I’m honored to take on this role at such a pivotal time,” said Filosa. “I’ve seen firsthand the talent and passion of our people, and I look forward to building on our heritage of innovation and the strength of our iconic brands.”

Elkann praised Filosa’s deep company knowledge and hands-on success, adding that his leadership across both Americas made him the clear choice. Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot called the appointment “a natural step forward,” while Nicolas Dufourcq of Bpifrance noted Filosa’s ability to guide Stellantis through industry transformation. Filosa will unveil his new leadership team when he officially takes the helm.
