Hybrid sales surge 70 percent as Kia sets first-half volume record

Kia America achieved a record first-half sales total of 416,511 vehicles, an 8 percent increase over the same period last year. Retail sales rose 12 percent, driven by strong demand across Kia’s core lineup and growth in electrified models.

Four models posted their best-ever first-half performance: Carnival grew 57 percent, Telluride 15 percent, Sportage 9 percent and K4 7 percent. The K5 sedan surged 170 percent, while Sorento SUV volume climbed 9 percent, contributing to Kia’s overall milestone.

Electrification remains a key growth area, with hybrid model sales up 70 percent year-over-year. Sedans collectively rose 29 percent, and SUVs grew 9 percent, reflecting broad appeal across vehicle segments.

“We delivered a record-breaking first half despite uncertain market conditions,” said SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America. “Our well-designed, technologically advanced lineup continues to resonate with consumers. Core models like Carnival, Telluride, Sportage and K4 set new benchmarks, while electrified models maintain strong momentum. With the upcoming EV9 Nightfall Edition and the new EV9 GT-Line, we expect this positive trajectory to continue. In the second half, Kia will stay agile and committed to meeting U.S. customers’ needs.”

Kia also reaffirmed its participation in Electrify Expo events this year, showcasing its expanding electric vehicle portfolio. Upcoming appearances include Electrify Expo Seattle in July, Chicago in September and New York City in October.
